What the Saponora calculator covers
Solid soap with sodium hydroxide (NaOH)
Liquid soap with potassium hydroxide (KOH)
Hybrid formulations using both lyes
Lye purity and superfat settings
Water-to-lye ratio and lye concentration
Oil, butter, wax, additive, and fragrance lines
Recipe profile and fatty acid guidance
Batch scaling, costing, and cure follow-up
What is a soap calculator?
A soap calculator determines how much sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide is required to saponify a selected blend of oils. Each oil has its own SAP value, so changing the oil blend, superfat, purity, or total batch size changes the required lye and liquid amounts.
Why calculation context matters
A useful calculator should show more than a final number. Saponora keeps the assumptions visible, separates oils from additives and fragrance, and connects the formula to revision history, costing, production batches, and curing records.
Lye is caustic. Verify every formula independently, confirm ingredient specifications, wear suitable protective equipment, and follow established handling procedures.
How to use the recipe builder
- Choose solid, liquid, hybrid, or non-soap formulation.
- Select units and enter the total oil weight.
- Choose a liquid calculation method and superfat level.
- Add oils and confirm that oil percentages total 100%.
- Add custom liquids, additives, and fragrance where needed.
- Review the calculated result and safety assumptions before saving.
