Typical curing range
Many cold-process bars are given approximately four to six weeks, but the useful period depends on formula composition, water content, bar dimensions, environment, and the maker’s quality criteria.
What changes during curing
Water continues to evaporate, the bar becomes harder, and its use characteristics can change. A longer cure may be useful for high-olive-oil or high-water formulas.
What to record
Track the production date, planned cure date, formula revision, batch code, storage conditions, weight change, appearance, odor, lather observations, and the final release decision.
A date is a reminder, not proof
A cure alarm helps organize work, but it does not certify product safety or readiness. Establish and document your own release checks.
